New MiKTeX 2.5 binaries

Sunday, 21 January 2007 09:58 by CSchenk

I have rebuilt all the MiKTeX binaries because new runtime libraries have been released by Microsoft. I thought it would be best to update all binaries at one go.

Could you please tell me why these updates are needed? They are for new Windows only? I am using Windows XP !

Thank you very much!

You don't need these updates, since there are no functional changes.

Is there someway I can take a look at a XeTeX MiKTeX version? I saw it's planned for the 2.7 version.

Thanks,

Wilfred

Dear Christian Schenk,

I have just update Miktex with the files of the 20 january. I didn't know that it was not a necessary update (I did it using the automatic update tool).

I am running windows xp SP2. And now Yap crach when reading some DVI file, this is due to some EPS file. It says that it cannot render the page and get stuck. Those page was rendered well with the previous version of Yap. I can send you a very short TeX file with an EPS figure which cause the crach on my system if you want. This is very ennoying of course. The workaround is to produce a PS or PDF instead of a DVI file to look at the manuscript, but this is less confortable than with yap.
